Despite its impending launch and getting some attention at E3, Luigi’s Mansion 3 seems to be flying under the radar for the most part. However, Nintendo Japan recently took some steps to remedy that with a new, six-minute-long trailer showing off some of the varied locales Luigi will be forced to visit and a handful of challenging foes he’ll encounter.
After seeing the hapless Mario tourist party arrive at the haunted hotel, we see the return of King Boo, presumably as the game’s main antagonist. The focus then shifts to highlighting three of the hotel’s themed floors.
There’s the garden we’ve seen before, which seems to benefit from being much larger and obviously better rendered than the similarly themed mansion in Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. The trailer also shows off some of the spooky desert floor and a neon-light filled disco floor as well, where some new U.S. footage shows Luigi will get his boogie on with an undead DJ.
We also get a detailed look at how Googi control works, and it looks like Googi-themed puzzles will make Googi a necessity for much of Luigi’s journey. unlike the goopy doppelganger’s role in the recent 3DS Luigi’s Mansion remake.
Finally, it’s worth noting how good Luigi’s Mansion 3 looks overall. While we’ll naturally have to wait a bit longer for tech breakdowns and seeing how it runs, it’s safe to say the new Luigi’s Mansion is one of the better-looking games on the Nintendo Switch.
Stay tuned for our official review of the game coming at the beginning of November.
