Of course, if you’re playing the PC version of The Witcher 3: The WIld Hunt, there’s always mods: bug fixes, a Gwent card dealer, an enchantment system, and even something called “Pineapple vision.” But, user ParKan recently released a mod that allows players to take control of one of the game’s four main female characters. There are a few rough spots that could be smoothed out, but considering that the mod basically adds in four new playable characters, it’s hard to complain.
The main female characters who have all been longtime staples in the series – Triss, Shani, Yennefer and Ciri – all use Geralt’s default animations for both travel and combat. For the most part, it looks perfectly fine, but some instances do get a bit choppy when you see some animations that where clearly designed with a male character in mind.
Speaking of Geralt, it’d be a bit much to expect ParKan to record new dialogue for four new characters so you’ll be able to see the beautiful women of The Witcher speak using Geralt’s low, gravelly voice, which in all honesty has led to some of the best YouTube clips on the internet.
Minor nitpicks aside, the mod is extremely impressive. Since CD Projekt Red didn’t include a hidden code for these characters to be playable, Parkan almost had to make this from scratch. Parkan has also included a number of different outfits and hairstyles for all four characters.
So, if you need some more The Witcher 3 to hold you over until The Blood and Wine Expansion comes out, check out more of ParKan’s work over at his Nexus mods page.
