With the final release of Android 7.0 Nougat rumored to arrive sometime this month and Google preparing for the unveiling of the new Nexus handsets, the hype around the HTC-built Nexus devices is slow reaching its peak.
Adding to the Nexus hype, the folks over at Android Police have provided more details about the handsets and have shared some photos of the smaller 5-inch Nexus “Sailfish” as well. Firstly, they confirm that both Nexus handsets will feature the “same basic industrial design and materials,” with both of them having the same specifications except for their screen size, resolution, and battery capacity. As for the photo of the Sailfish above, it shows the handset as having a fingerprint scanner at its rear, with the rear camera module part made of glass and the bottom made of aluminium. The front of the handset features some hefty bezels at the top and bottom thereby negating its small 5-inch screen size. And from what it looks like, the bottom bezel does not feature a secondary speaker that justifies its presence. AP also says that unlike previous handsets, the new Nexus handsets this year from Google will not feature the Nexus branding. Instead, they will feature a “G” logo. The rear design of the handset sure is interesting, but until and unless we get our eyes on some clearer photos of the handset, it will be tough to judge how exactly the hybrid glass-aluminium rear shell looks like in real life. Google is widely expected to unveil its new Nexus handsets next month or in early October. So, we should expect to see more leaks of the handset to make their way to the internet throughout this month and the next.
